I like this quote not only because of the truth in it, but also because he leaves it so open ended.  This could mean friends, family, lovers, it fits within any given relationship in your life.  The use of the words chemical substance, to me, makes me think of an explosion… probably because I’m not that great with chemicals to begin with!  I’m not that great with relationships either, so I guess I have an easy time connecting the dots between the two phrases.  I do agree that no matter who you meet, whether or not it’s briefly or long-term, they transform you in certain ways.  Some for the better, some for the worse, and some just to bring a smile on your face when you think of that chance meeting that one day years ago.  This quote makes me think of the relationships I have in my life a little more in depth than I usually prefer to do, which is one of the reasons why I enjoy it.  I hope you enjoy it as well!
