Memory Rerun

He closes his eyes and lets his mind wander over the last few years like a spider walking on a web of memories. Times past, missed opportunities, friends gained, friends lost, friends that he couldn’t get rid of. Loves and the lessons learned from them. Life changing moments and moments most regretted except for the lessons learned from them. Random memories go in and out of his mind just long enough for him to relive them. His son’s birth, the warmth of the pool, the way he felt when he held his son for the first time, the weight of the responsibility for that child as it hit his shoulders and the strength he found instantly from knowing what he was carrying. The tears he shed when his son and his mother took their first nap. The memories are so vivid and real that he tears up but catches his composure as the next memory pushes it out of his mind. He remembers the smell of the air that night, the light rain that sprinkled on them as they danced in that driveway. He takes a deep inhale as her smell from that night fills his mind, the bright headlights weren’t bright enough to distract his gaze on her as he spinned her around ever so gracefully. The taste of her kiss as it lingered on his lips long after he dropped her off back at home. A new memory blows in like the wind, his gaze narrowed as he struggles to control his emotions because his son is in his lap. But his son knows that something has changed in his father, and he instinctively hugs the tears out of him. He drops the phone in amazement, not of what happened but that he was right in predicting it. It doesn’t make it any harder to bear. He remembers the intense feeling of revenge as his mind unconsciously plots a way to make the woman pay. He remembers his body going instantly fever warm. It makes it hard for him to breathe as reminisces about that day. He lets it go as the memory train keeps chugging along. The fire of passion he felt for her could have fueled to stove she used to cook those noodles in front of him. The only thing holding him back was the knowledge that there was another that wanted him and he was a faithful man. He could still remember the smell of the pheromones as they teases his urges till the point of him having to leave the room. He smiles in pride in his ability to resist her feminine wilds as the memory fades out and a new one in. “Old Beginnings indeed” he thinks to himself as he stands in a cold rain overlooking the city. He had been up there once before with her, he held her close to keep her warm that first night, a memory stuck in a memory, it was cold that morning too and that place had changed. They were tearing that tennis court down on that hill and he had to run and hide from the cops just to get up there for his pictures and movie. Getting down was even harder…..BAM! New memory hits, he choked her, she scratched him, he held her down, she fought it, they loved it both enjoying every inch of a naked stuggle that looked like an insane passion expressed the only way it could. He still remembers the look in her eyes that pulled the animal out in him and made her always mutter to herself, “night and day”. He thinks it to himself but never lets it show. The memory changes as the seasons do and he remembers how it feels to know that your next action will be a mistake as he held that gun in his hand and closed his eyes to pull the trigger……to be continued
