Singles Awareness<\/p>\n
This is in recognition of National Singles Week which occurs in September (yea I know it’s December). I also feel responsible for educating\/reminding the “un-single” so they do not offend singles they encounter:<\/p>\n
1. Don’t assume your single friends\/family members are lonely because they are single. Most single people enjoy it and it’s only the insecure ones who do not. Get to know your single so you can tell the difference<\/p>\n
2. This one is key… DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT set up your single friend\/family member without their consent and permission. Don’t even offer to do it unless they ask! It’s just plain awkward and 9 times out 10, it’s someone that’s not even their taste. Save yourself and more importantly, them, time by avoiding this fatal pitfall.<\/p>\n
3. Don’t assume your single friends\/family members are interested in watching your kids. Singles do have lives of their own. At the same time, don’t assume they don’t know anything about kids because they are single. Again, it’s important to know your single and their limitations<\/p>\n
4. NEVER say things like “You’ll find someone someday…” or “You wouldn’t know about that because you’re single…” This is a good way to get punched or get an anonymous hate letter. Again don’t make assumptions about your single!<\/p>\n
5. Don’t make judgements about a single friend\/family member’s life. Let them do what they want! As long as they are being respectful to themselves and others. Don’t let your jealousy show ; )<\/p>\n
6. Don’t feel the need to broadcast your single’s business. It can be embarassing announcing to people how long they’ve been single or even the fact that they are single. It should be a non-issue.<\/p>\n
7. Don’t be a timekeeper for your single by saying things like “you’re not getting any younger”. This is just plain annoying.<\/p>\n
8. Take the time to appreciate your single. Being single these days can be like navigating through land mines. We should get paid.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
