{"id":2209,"date":"2009-02-08T09:21:04","date_gmt":"2009-02-08T15:21:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ocbenji.com\/blog\/?p=2209"},"modified":"2009-06-16T09:32:15","modified_gmt":"2009-06-16T14:32:15","slug":"heartless","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ocbenji.com\/blog\/2009\/02\/08\/heartless\/","title":{"rendered":"Heartless"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>He started off with such promise<\/p>\n<p>A gentleman who never broke a promise<\/p>\n<p>But like fresh snow, his heart was destined to be tainted<\/p>\n<p>Like a pure canvas destined to be painted<\/p>\n<p>The first was a girl he only wanted to rescue<\/p>\n<p>A damsel in distress, a love that twisted his heart eskew<\/p>\n<p>She needed a friend not a lover but he couldn&#8217;t see<\/p>\n<p>Too blinded by love and what he wanted to see<\/p>\n<p>He came in a knight in shining armor and left a punching bag<\/p>\n<p>And soon the happily ever after turned to a game of emotional tag<\/p>\n<p>The split was rougher on him cause she was gone months before<\/p>\n<p>But he grew accustomed to the pain, sprinkling salt in the wound<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I was with her for her,&#8221; he thought, &#8220;And I&#8217;m with her for me&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>His rationalization for the second of the three<\/p>\n<p>He soon forgot about the first and repeated his mistakes<\/p>\n<p>He kissed her selfishly as her back melted the snowflakes<\/p>\n<p>He let his guard down again and exposed his injured heart<\/p>\n<p>She bought it with love and placed it in her shopping cart<\/p>\n<p>When it was time to check out she didn&#8217;t have enough to get it all<\/p>\n<p>So she placed him back on the shelf, she wasn&#8217;t ready for the long haul<\/p>\n<p>Cut too many times, his heart sprung a leak<\/p>\n<p>Like a fish out of water, its the love water that he seeks<\/p>\n<p>Still caught in a cloud of confusion and pain<\/p>\n<p>He stumbles drunkenly down the road of his life, halfway insane<\/p>\n<p>While on his crazy travels trying to make sense of it all<\/p>\n<p>He encounters a very familiar stranger who makes his soul crawl<\/p>\n<p>He knew the emotionally bankrupt shouldn&#8217;t write checks<\/p>\n<p>But curiosity killed the cat and his heart was next<\/p>\n<p>She was as damaged as he, maybe even more so<\/p>\n<p>In that was a kinship felt by every &#8220;bye&#8221;
